Node Based Daylight Simulations

4.3 Daylight Factor

Radiance Parameters: Use the high quality preset of DIVA In this step you will generate a daylight factor map of the floor-plan of your space. Lay out a sensor (Point and Vector) grid with approximately 50cm spacing. If you like you can decrease the spacing if you feel you need a finer resolution. Calculate the daylight factor distribution and mean daylight factor of the space. Pick the adequate target illuminace for your space and make sure you document this choice in the submission.

  • Document the daylight factor map in plan view. (screen shots are ok – but make sure you set the Rhino viewport background to either white or black so it will not look awkward on your slides)
  • What happens when you rotate the scene by 180 degrees? You can rotate the entire scene geometry in Grasshopper or in Rhino to recompute the analysis.
  • Prepare a slide that shows this and add it to your final project presentation
